I can see why you guys wouldn't go with Tales to Astonish for a Cap anthology, ToS it's not something newer fans would catch on and it's not as recognizable as Action Comics or Detective Comics which are synonymous to Superman and Batman so much that even I knew that before I got into comics.

brevoortformspring answered:

DC has maintained DETECTIVE COMICS and ACTION COMICS out of a sense of history, which is nice. By the same token, those two titles have struggled more over the years than other Superman and Batman books, to the point where at different times the ACTION or DETECTIVE portion of the logo has been tiny and the Superman or Batman portion has been huge.

Action Comics was a weekly series with a rotating cast for a while in the ‘80s. Detective Comics used to have Back-Up features with stories involving Green Arrow, Etrigan, or other B and C listers. Like, half of the monthly Detective Comics issue was not about Batman. So, yes: the titles went on for a LONG time, but that does not mean that they were good the entire time.
